Last Weeks Rides-
I took Tuesday off for a work meeting…bummer, but it was a good thing for the legs were a little toasty from the previous weekends hammering.
Thursday’s ride we decided to do the BP Tue evening ride route (up Barton, over to Sierra College, up through English Colony to Folsom-Auburn and back) to show Mathew the route before he does the ride tomorrow. We also practiced echelons on EC Rd and a constantly rotating pace line down FA Rd. My legs really never quite kicked in and Mathew took the sprint into a nice headwind
.
Saturday I was back out at the Coffee Republic ride. Carlos and Torey joined me and about 50-other riders. Team Safeway/Bicycles Plus was out in force and controlled the pace up to the end of English Colony when everything blew apart coming up the tressel section. I think that is where Carlos came off? I was in a small group chasing two other groups ahead of us all the way down Sierra College and caught a group with Torey in it before 193 and the lead group on 193. The pace settled down to a decent tempo until the bottom of Ridge. Torey (riding Junior gears) was with me at the bottom and I told him to “go get-um”. He smiled and dissappeared chasing down and passing the leaders by the top of the climb. I again settled into my TT mode and surprizingly rode with a group of 4 other riders to the top and chased back within 200-feet of the main pack by the top of Indian. Torey was not with them as I joined the group (the group did not wait at the top as usual) down Folsom-Auburn. Apparently Torey had decided to attack and had gone off on his own on Indian to see how far he could go before/if getting caught. On the “fire station climb” I saw Torey pedaling ahead and as we passed him yelled some encouragement to jump on…between gasps of air as I was just hanging on myself
. He made it on!
Sunday Matt and Mathew were racing Patterson Pass RR and I rode with Steve, Vicki and Doug on a loop up to Lincoln, over to Mt. Vernon, Auburn and back…4-hrs. I told them it was going to be an “easy” ride since Matt and Mathew were not riding
. I rode by heart rate keeping things in the <150 range except for the ride back down FA Rd. when things picked up to the mid 160′s for the pull back. It was a great ride with perfect conditions…maybe a little warm on some of the climbs but not “hot”.
This weeks training will be leading up to Dunnigan Hills RR for Matt and I so some good recovery and see what happens Saturday

I caught up with Carlos right around the tressel section on Saturdays ride and he led me through the next few turns (I didn’t have them memorized)…Thanks Carlos.
I actually went back out there yesterday and was able to remember each turn on my own. Thanks again.
